Hi I'm Simon Rickett the driving force behind UK Websaver.

Simon – "My background is in community initiatives and business psychology and I have lectured at a variety of Universities all over the UK. I have years of experience in assisting individuals achieve their ultimate goals and have assisted a variety of companies fulfill their potential through the implementation of psychological strategies in the work place."

"I was going through a difficult stage at work, where no matter what I did, I didn't get the recognition I knew I deserved. I was feeling all those things that we’ve highlighted above. I hated going to work and I knew it was time for a change. Sound familiar? When I found out I was going to be a Dad it made me realise it’s time for change, link that with the fact I needed to earn more money to support my soon to be family I had to do something about it."


I wanted to make my family proud. I had been involved in offering businesses online advertising, psychological solutions and website design throughout the Midlands. I have used my previous experience to get UK Websaver where it is today. I have always had masses of energy and determination to succeed and will do my upmost to ensure UK Websaver achieves it's potential. The business model is so simple, and I am sure you have heard it before, the simple ideas are always the best, and here is another prime example! Please read on to learn more about my story.

UK Websaver originally started in Nottingham in 2005. From 2007 to 2008, UK Websaver has grown across the UK through the franchising route. Throughout this time the model has worked on 2 levels:

Business offered savings and discounts to increase their customers e.g

  • Save £20 if you spend over £150
  • The list goes on………

And Local people bought a loyalty card to take advantage of these savings.

Businesses paid to be part of the scheme and local people bought cards as they wanted to save money.

This is the beauty of UK Websaver there are two revenue streams, one selling local loyalty cards to local people and one selling the concept to local businesses, you can choose which suits you the best.

This simple concept has developed UK Websaver into what it is today as more and more businesses are joining what we are doing and more local people are buying local loyalty cards.

However over the last 6 months, I realised there was one element of the business model that needed to develop further, due to changing times in our society, what was it? The community aspect!

I needed to ensure that if UK Websaver was going to continue to succeed we needed to develop the community aspect further.

I had previously donated money to local community causes, however this was never prominent in the business model for it really to have the desired effect that we had so wished. I thought if UK Websaver could actually start to unite a community as one, instead of having elements of it working individual of the other, then this really would have a positive effect for the long term future of UK Websaver.

Over the last 6 months UK Websaver has moved away from being just a business generating money from selling loyalty cards and packages to businesses it has now developed into a community initiative that more and more communities are joining. UK Websaver is creating a united community both for the people involved in it but more importantly for communities up and down the country.

How have we done this?

From reading the above you maybe thinking we have come up with a very complicated process to do this, but the fact of the matter is the simplicity of what we have developed is as simple as the initial business model itself ... wait for it ...

We now donate money from local loyalty card sales to local community and charity causes that are specific to the communities in which it operates in.

  • Local businesses are constantly under threat from high street closure, economic downturn and high street closure, therefore are constantly looking for new ways to increase customers, especially local customers, what better way to do this by being part of a scheme that supports their community.
  • Local people need to save money, with a recession looming, we have all had to tighten our belts recently, and suddenly looking after the pennies really does matter. What better way to do this than by actually doing something for the benefit of thier local community.
  • Local community causes and charities are constantly on the look out for donations to support their worthwhile causes. Due to UK Websaver they can now receive these donations through this fantastic community initiative.

Claire operated an area in Leicester at the end of 2006, prior to us launching as a franchise, as we wanted to ensure the business model could be replicated, like we had seen previously. We had hoped Claire would continue with her franchise in Leicester, however so impressed with Claire's developments with Leicester last year, she joined our team and is now responsible for recruiting franchisees across the UK. We wanted someone who had a real life understanding of how the business model worked and to pass on this knowledge and experience to any potential franchisee who was looking at our opportunity.


Another of our major success stories last year was the development of the Nuneaton and Bedworth area. Jo who was responsible for developing this area, has also now joined us and will provide further training to franchisees on a 1 to 1 basis.

Another success story over the last few months is Neil who operated the franchise in Dundee. He only operated the franchise for a short while and we were so impressed with what he did in such a short period of time that we have set him up in America to operate USA Websaver when it is launched later this year.

When setting up the franchise model we needed to ensure that we did something which covered the following factors to ensure success and to meet the requirements for working from home:

Factor 1 – Huge Demand

The product had to have huge demand and provide a service that was needed.

From the evidence we have to date we can safely say it has.

Who wouldn’t want to save money in their local community?

Anyone in their right mind wants to save money especially if local loyalty is only £4.99; therefore this business focuses directly on every person in your area.

What businesses do you know who wouldn’t want to increase their local customer base?

With constant threat from National Counterparts, economic downturn and high street closure, businesses more than ever need to be involved in this sort of operation to ensure their business succeeds in their local area.

You will see that almost every business in your area will want to offer your local community some sort of saving, reward or offer.

And finally how many community causes do you know that don’t want to receive donations?

Community and charitable causes are constantly on the look out for donations and what better way than to provide them with this through the sale of loyalty cards in your area.

Factor 2 – Low Maintenance

In order to maximize your working day we have had to ensure the majority of your time is out in your community selling cards and speaking to local businesses. To allow you do this we have designed an operating system that is low maintenance and easy to mange.

We have ensured franchisees from what ever background can operate the business with little ongoing maintenance. You don’t need to spend all day updating a website or changing content, like so many other similar opportunities. Your focus is entirely on developing your business.

You don’t even need to spend all day on the phone calling businesses as we provide you with the necessary material you need to inform businesses all about UK Websaver and how it works.

Even local people who buy a card in your area, are informed of all the latest savings and latest community news through a monthly newsletter that Head Office sends out.

A new feature for 2008 is the community feature. The community feature is there for local franchisees to actually add themselves the community causes they are supporting. This really is a great new feature for 2008 as it allows you to promote what is going on in your local community. Again this is easy to use and requires very little of your time.

You need to be out there in your community to make this work for you therefore we have provided you with all the tools that allow you to do this. This ensures that all your time is spent out there in your community and making money through selling cards and attracting local businesses to join our UK Websaver community.

Factor 3 - Limited Stock

Working from home will mean space is tight, we know we’ve all been there! We don’t want you to have stock all over the place. UK Websaver is perfect in this respect...

The local loyalty cards are the size of a key ring, so you can fit 1000's in one plastic bag. The only other stock you require is your marketing and point of sale material which can actually fit in the boot of your car! In fact that is a great place to have it as when you are going round your local community you want to be able to show people in your community exactly what UK Websaver is all about there and then.

This is all the stock you need.

Factor 4 - No Employees

This opportunity is for one person per area.

You can grow your business and recruit staff as you need them but this opportunity is designed just for you to run and make a GOOD LIVING from.

The whole point of operating any business is that after the first year's hard work you start to see the benefits of residual income from the business that you are operating. The beauty of UK Websaver is that because there are two revenue streams, you will start to see revenue from local people renewing their card each year as they continue to save money in their area as well as supporting local community causes, and local businesses renew year in year out as they see an increased number of local customers.

After year one you will be provided with the following residual income:

From businesses - 100% of all revenue - therefore if you charge the business £299 to be part of UK Websaver you will keep £299

From local loyalty card - £3.91 from all cards that are renewed in your area

As long as you have good savings, offers and rewards for your local community, market your area through supporting local community causes and follow our 4 stage business plan your renewal rates will be high.

Factor 7 – Low Cost

The start up cost is very small with a very low monthly management fee of £175 that doesn’t begin until the start of the 3rd month, giving you plenty of time to develop your area. The majority of franchises will start charging you immediately.

Why have we done this?

The reason being is that for the first 8 weeks of your franchise you need to be out in your area talking to local businesses to take part in this community initiative. At this early stage in your business you will not be able to charge the businesses for joining UK Websaver as there will be no members in your area. However after 8 weeks, you should have enough businesses on board to start selling cards in your area.

Once you have 50 businesses on board per 60,000 population you are operating you will be able to start to sell the local loyalty card, we aim for you to have achieved this by the end of the third month, that is why we don't start charging you a monthly management fee, till you are well on the way to making your business a success.

Factor 8 - £18,962 Worth of Revenue

You will receive 2800 local loyalty cards per 60,000 population you are operating. That is an astonishing amount of stock, which has a retail value of £13,972, which you are responsible for selling once you have local businesses on board.

As you develop your franchise and reach a specific stage you will also receive a FURTHER 1000 cards, which are known as your community cards, which have a retail value of £4,990. These are the cards you will use to donate money from to local community causes, each time you sell one of these cards you will give an agreed percentage to the local community charity cause you are supporting.

You will only receive these cards once you have local businesses on board all offering savings and discounts to local people in your area.

Factor 9 - No Knowledge Required

UK Websaver is such a simple concept to operate, there are no hidden catches, or even skills required. If you are confident and a sociable person and can talk to people in your community you have everything you need to make UK Websaver a success in your area. After all, all you will be doing is explaining what you have read so far to local people in your area.

The only skills you need to be able to do is operate a computer and send emails, if you can do that and have the commitment to succeed you can make UK Websaver a success in your local community.

All you require is a computer, with internet access, and preferably a printer. If you’ve got all that then you have all you need to start operating UK Websaver in your area.

So Why Is It So Successful?

We live in a society where saving money is key to everyone’s life. By offering you local community something that achieves this, then you really are going to be on to a winner. Local businesses are constantly offering incentives to increase their customer base, i.e. save 10% here, 2 for 1, etc. You only have to look at your local paper each week to see the offers that businesses offer. As businesses are constantly under threat from National counterparts, economic downturn and high street closures to name a few, they need to be offering these incentives more than ever to ensure local people continue to use their business.

The psychology of attracting consumers to buy can be manipulated by offering unique incentives through the use of offers. The January sales are a prime example of this in action, as are all the offers that you will see daily. Making the customer think that they are saving money will increase customer bases. It is human nature to find the cheapest price for the same product. It is human nature to want to save money.
